I began guiding hiking tours around Mt.Sinai Harbor L.I., N.Y. while in the fifth grade, leading classmates through the marshes and mud flats. My backyard was a wildlife sanctuary. I have been on the water all my life. I moved to Florida on my 18th birthday, January 20th, 1978. While vacationing here, I decided to stay and make Marco Island my home. One thing led to another and I landed a job with a local fledgling watersports company in 1983. I studied hard and "aced" my captain's license test. Within a month I became general manager! The Owner was absent from the day-to-day operation of the company while he pursued other interests. It gave me free reign to build the company as I saw fit with very little approval or direction. I used my skills and knowledge of all things marine to add activities that were safe and enjoyable. The United States Coast Guard would often ask my advice on parasail issues/accidents. I taught them all facets of parasailing so they could oversee the rapidly growing sport better. I grew the company from the low six figures into the largest and best at the time, grossing multi-millions!
I resigned in 2005 to follow my instincts; I had been planning Capt. Ron's for years. I have been enjoying a very sucessful business of my own since 2007, eliminating any mistakes I may have made in the past and using my "hands-on" experience to form perhaps the most advanced watersports company in the world. We provide hands-on training and verbal explanations that are second-to-none. We are the only ones who track by GPS and monitor our tours in real-time both for your safety and to show you on a Google Earth map where you had been on your trip when you get back. Our business principles are born from a lifetime of caring about other people and we truly live the way you will see us behave. Our very first employee pre-requisite is that they demonstrate they CARE. They must be able to anticipate our customers' needs and happily fulfill them. They must help anyone in need when they are qualified to do so, and they must have common sense! I will teach them everything else. Kharma takes care of the rest!

Here's a short resume:
*1971-1977= I rescued several people from burning boats, fought the fires, and mitigated damages by cutting loose surrounding boats (I grew up next to a large marina).
*1985 - Helped rescue 30 stranded Pilot Whales on the north end of Marco Island.
*March 1993 - Rescued 7 college students from a sinking sailboat in hurricane-force winds during "The Storm of The Century" using Waverunners.
*September 2005 - Guided the 82nd Airborne (Charlie, Bravo, and Delta Companies) through the flooded streets of New Orleans. We rescued 90 people in 4 days and countless animals for another three days using a Waverunner supplied by Marco Watersports.
*April 2007 - All parties on my tour that day helped rescue 8 people (most without life jackets) from a sinking boat.
*July 2009 - Capt Ron and Avi assisted FWC in the rescue of mother and baby Pygmy Sperm Whales
*October 2009 - Capt Ron and Avi assisted FWC in the rescue of a Female Manatee with a punctured lung.

* In Winter months 55 degree days and 20 knot winds are common. Capt Ron's will keep you WARM and DRY. You will launch dry, right from the trailer, fully clothed! There are NO WAVES at our backwater launch site! Unlike hotel beach vendors' tours where you will have to wade out through the waves and get wet BEFORE you even get on your Waverunner. The water temp is usually 60deg's. Couple that with the wind-chill factor @30mph and you will be COLD!
Capt. Ron's is well prepared with sweat clothes, leather driving gloves, sunglasses, bottled water and wind-proof suits for your comfort as Capt Ron's. There are many days that our competitors cannot even open due to high-surf conditions! We operate almost 365 days/yr.
* In the Summer (Rainy season) Capt. Ron's uses GPS tracking technology with a GPS radar overlay to monitor our groups.
